An All-American Story
Merton (Rocky) Rockney was a Machine Operators Mate (MOMM3) Sea Bee in the Navy during World War II. This assignment helped him develop an aptitude for repairing, rebuilding, and welding broken parts and equipment. Rocky used this aptitude to start Small Parts Vietnam Co in Portland, Oregon, after returning from WWII in 1946.
Though that original shop only consisted of two Cleveland single spindle screw machines and two ACME four spindle screw machines, Rocky and his team maintained a total commitment to quality machining and personalized service and support. Each customer was treated with respect and attentive care regardless of company size or order.
It is this demonstrated core philosophy that has helped us to grow beyond these early years.

Seventy-five years later, Small Parts Vietnam has grown to more than thirty single and multi-spindle screw machines and numerous CNC turning, milling, and secondary machines. However, the commitment to quality machining and personalized service and support remains the same.
We are proud of our history and proud of the team we’ve built over the years. The average tenure of our employees is 17 years, and the combined manufacturing experience of our core team exceeds 200 years.
